Kleesschen - December 2010

Kleesschen 2010

Once upon a cold Christmas.. our club was sitting together around the cozy dinner table and brewed up a plan on how to bring some joy into the lives of the children at the Foyer de Jour Kannerland and Caritas. We came up with an idea that would make everybody happy: children, parents, companies and us.

We are offering our services to companies and families in Luxembourg who are in need of a Kleesschen, Houseker and candy bags in return for a small fee (and if the companies like, they can encourage their employees children to donate some of their toys with the less fortunate). The profits and toys will be donated to the Foyer and Caritas.

If your company would like to hire our services, please contact us and we'll send you a reservation form. Please return the form to us by November 15.

Have a merry pre-Christmas everyone!

Winetasting at the Vinoteca!

Vinoteca Winetasting event

This September 15, Andrea our President, organized a little winetasting session at the Vinoteca in Kirchberg. Our very knowledgable host Mr. Frommes, put together for us a list of 10 wines (I'm sure we had more than that) from all over the world, because Rotaract is quite International and he entertained us with some interesting Trivia about wine. We also had some yummy finger food and dessert to go with the wine. My personal favorite wine was the Moscato from Piemonte (2009), and I made sure to get a box before leaving :-)

Mr. Frommes gave us a special gift, a very rare bottle of white wine that was especially made for the charter of the Rotary Club Luxembourg - Horizon in 1980.

That evening we saw a lot of new faces who joined us and hope to see them in our future meetings again. It was a really relaxing and enjoyable evening. Wine helps loosening up people and I hope that we'll have this kind of event again next year or so.

WIL 2010 - another successful year!

WIL 2010 Banner

We just finished our annual international event "WIL 2010 - Weekend in Luxembourg" with our fellow Rotaractors from all over Europe. Present were friends from the Czech Republic, Austria, Belgium, Netherlands, Italy and the USA. During our 2 nights and 2 days weekend, we experienced a bit of nightlife, showed them around Luxembourg City and brought them up north for a castle tour. Eventhough it was very hot the whole weekend, all of us were still fit enough to party until the morning at our gala dinner and after party which took place in Hotel Parc Bellevue. On the last day we had our legendary BBQ on a hill close the the Mosel river just chillaxing and enjoying the company (and food of course).

We've had nothing but positive feedback and we're really glad that everyone enjoyed it so much.

You can find the pictures here: WIL 2010 Gallery :)

PADEM presentation

We invited Christophe and Emmanuel, members of PADEM in Luxembourg, to get to know their organization and projects. They told us about their activities in Sri Lanka, Kenya, Mongolia, etc. We have also been brainstorming on ways we could help them with our service. All in all, it was an interesting evening.

EUCO 2010 - Warsaw, Poland

EUCO 2010 - Warsaw

We just came back yesterday from European Rotaract Convention 2010 (EUCO 2010) which is the biggest event for the European Rotaractors every year. This year it was hosted in Warsaw Poland for around 500 to 600 participants. We're proud to announce that almost 30% of all of Rotaract Club Luxembourg has been attending ;-) We really had an amazing time and got to know fellow Rotaractors and their club projects.

Make sure you don't miss the next European meeting. The Rotaract Europe Meeting (REM) in Amsterdam from Oct. 1 to Oct. 3 . Registrations start on May 15. See you there!
